The Wrath of Grapes

Or something like that! LOL! I have been slowly adding to my wine themed signs. Every time I add one I think of my friends from New Jersey, Donna and Janice. I met them many years ago at a craft show. Since we have cut back on the number of shows we do a year we only see them at one show each year. These girls love their wine and bring a few bottles with them when they do weekend shows to enjoy in their hotel room after the show ends. In fact they even like $2buck Chuck from Trader Joe's. We have a Trader Joe's here locally in Maryland but they aren't allowed to sell wine in their stores here. What a shame from what I have been told it's suppose to be pretty good. Anyway, the closest Trader Joe's that can sell wine is located outside Edison NJ. How do I know this? Well from my Jersey girlfriends. They would take a trip over the bridge when we did the craft show at Edison and pick up a case or two or three! LOL! These girls are crazy and fun loving....they have sent me one night a text picture of their night on the town. Let's just say that the picture was of the table littered with empty wine bottles. So anyway, each time I make a new wine sign, I think of them fondly. As usual these are available on my website. The hubby being the frustrated gardener that he is, has 2 grape vines growing in pots. They are suppose to get transplanted on our 6 acres that we own sometime but for now they reside in my perennial flower bed. If you look closely in the picture you can see they have gotten some grapes.....Think they will be enough to make some wine? Until next time.....

I'm Late. I'm Late....

For a very important date....Boy do I feel like the White Rabbit most days! Of course with the remake of Alice In Wonderland starring Johnny Depp, I just had to make some signs.

Alice's Adventures In Wonderland was written by Lewis Carroll(a pseudonym)in 1865. It tells the story of Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a world of curiouser and curiouser things as Alice puts it.

Along the way Alice meets the Queen of Hearts who invites Alice, some say ordered, to play a game of croquet with her...needless to say things don't go well for the Queen! So off with her head! LOL!

And of course what fantasy world would be complete without a wide grinned cat saying..... "We're all mad here!" Boy this could be my house! Some days it seems like so!

Lewis Carroll went onto to write "Through The Looking Glass", the sequel to Alice using the same genre of literary nonsense as well as some well known poems.

Carroll (Charles Lutwidge Dodgson) who was one of 11 children born to a Angelican church clergyman and his wife in Cheshire, England. Carroll attended Oxford where excelled as a brilliant scholar in mathematics and was an inventor. Some inventions credited to Dodgson are a postage stamp case, a writing tablet called the nyctograph, and a version of a word game that we know today as scrabble.

And I thought that he was just a writer!

The Wizard Will See You Now...

I was going through withdraw not making any oz signs for awhile, so inspiration has struck and I created so new ones this past week.

This one was made from another stencil artists product. Sometimes you just can't resist and have to have it!

And of course we "all" know Dorothy was right about the shoes! They certainly were sparkly!

This line was taken from the scene in the movie where the Dorothy was at the witches castle. Can you tell I love the movie? LOL!

This is my version of what a sign would look like if someone came across one on the way to the witches castle. I don't recall seeing one in the movie, and I may be wrong about one not being there, anyway, I would certainly take heed and not go further.

Enjoy!

It's A Girl!

Now that I have your attention...I'm not making any announcement here except for unveiling my new line of girly signs!

I have 3 nieces and I can tell you, that God knew what he was doing by giving me all boys! Not to say that little girls aren't sweet and all that...just boys are different!

I guess I'll have to be patient and wait for a grand daughter when my sons get around to having children...not that I'm in a hurry or anything! So for now, I'll just enjoy other people little girls.

And what little girl doesn't have their daddy wrapped around their little fingers? LOL!

The last sign I did as a present for a fellow estian who was having a tough time at Christmas. I wanted to make something for her little girl that would be just hers so I used this stencil to make this sign for her room door.

You can find all of these signs and more in my etsy shoppe...just click on the link below and it will take you to my shoppe.

Nothing Like Sisterly Love

.

I started out making some new sign this last week....without much of a theme in mind and what I came up with is a cross between witch signs and oz signs. See where my mind wanders... Of course the oz sign is my favorite one! LOL!

Photobucket

Of course being the youngest of 3 girls...well let's just say there was lots of sisterly love in our house! LOL!

Photobucket

And of course anyone that has a sister feels like this sometimes! Anyway, nothing like having a sister or two that you can poke fun at! LOL!

Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead

As you can see I was at it again...creating more "Oz" signs. With the 70th anniversary of the making of the movie this year, there has been a renewed interest.

Photobucket

The Emerald City was located in the middle of the land of Oz. It needed no "sign" to indicate that one was entering the city, as everything was green and brilliant. I made my version of what a sign would say proclaiming the entrance to the Emerald City.

Photobucket

For the filming of the movie, 125 "munchkins" were hired to become the inhabitants of Munchkinland. In 2007, only 6 "munchkins" remained living when a star was presented to them on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Just recently, the munchkin who played the "town crier" has passed away from natural causes.

The Twilight Zone

This sure feels like my house most days....but not for the reason that I made the sign. Mine has more to do with living with 4 males! It's been raining here since last Wednesday, so I had lots of time to create new signs. Anyway, my hubby watches a program called Fringe and it's sort of X-Files an Twilight Zone combined, so inspiration struck and I made some more "Twilight" signs to add to my twilight series. I know, how do vampires and the supernatural mesh? But it was the thought of the twilight zone, that my mind went off...I know scary where it will go, huh?

Photobucket

This sign is for all the young girls that dream about being with a vampire...how romantic huh? To be in love with someone that can love you forever?

Photobucket

Of course this is for the true vampire fan....put out the welcome mat and they will come? LOL!

Photobucket
This was a quote from one of the books...not too sure what this one was about exactly but it did give me the opportunity to use the red glitter paint I have! LOL!

Smitten

Of course, I started with Bitten, but somehow it morphed into Smitten. I guess to be in love with a vampire one does have to be smitten to get bitten! LOL! Sorry couldn't resist. I have no idea what all the hype surrounding the Twilight series is all about, as I have boys and they tell me it's a chick thing! So maybe in my free time, I should read one of the books.

Bite Me: You Know You Want To

Now that I have your attention! This week I got into making twilight signs. I found the font from the bookcover and decided to have some fun and see what I could come with.

Photobucket

Of course I would be remiss without providing some background information on the movie and the books. The first movie is based on a book written by Stephenie Meyer. The story is about a pair of young lovers..one a vampire(Edward) the other a young girl(Bella) who never quite fit in.

Photobucket

Bella soon finds herself in the small town of Forks, Washington, where she meets and falls in love with Edward. Surely not a classic romantic love story, but a more modern day love story.

Photobucket

Twilight has been on the New York Times bestsellers list for many, many weeks, mainly appealing to todays youth. There are literally 100's of Twilight fan sites from full blown websites to blogs to fulfill any twilight fans thirst for information. And of course the next movie is already in production. Stay tuned for more Twilight mania.

I'm Following The Leader, The Leader, The Leader, I'm Following The Leader Wherever She May Go!

Late last night inspiration struck for a new series of signs. Remember when we were kids and played outside all day from sunrise to sunset? Our parents had to threaten to punish us if we didn't come in to eat dinner? The games we played in my neighborhood provided many hours of fun.

So while still inspired, thanks Sharon, off I went researching old fashioned children's games on the internet. Many hours later and a walk back through time, I settled on a few sayings for my new signs.

Photobucket

Of course hide and seek was one of my favorite games to play. I think we've played every variation of the game that we could think up.

Photobucket

Sadly, some of my favorite games, there are no sayings for them, which was a big disappointment as I couldn't turn these into signs! Sigh! Games like Red Light/Green Light, Kick the Can and Flashlight Tag to name a few.

Photobucket

I remember as a child playing this game for hours...The boys always tried to be real rough and break through the line, but they were sadly outnumbered by the girls on our block!

Gone are the simple sounds of my childhood. Children played these old fashioned games until the early 70's but with the advent of television, video games and computers they are a lost art form. My children don't know these games, outside of tag you're it, which they played in the schoolyard! The sounds of their childhood, instead are electronic bleeps and blips...
