Well Bless My Blooms!

Thought I would share the beautiful bloom that my smallest amaryllis produced. We have 7 bulbs planted and this is the smallest of them all and it's the first time that it's bloomed!

Our other amaryllis have been blooming since late January and this year I think every bulb has bloomed. We've had pink with white and I shared those pictures with you last year. We also had a pure red one this year, but missed getting a picture and now this beautiful salmon colored one. I really love it's color...so pretty. With blooms like this indoors, surely spring and all it's beauty can't be far behind!

Til next time...

  1. hi Dee, my grandmother always had these flowers, sitting on her old tredle machine. This made me think of her. They are lovely, you have to have lots of patience to grow them, I think. Thanks.

  3. Peggy,

Thanks. I basically ignore that bulbs for the most part. I put the plants outside in the summer and cut back on the leaves as they start dying off. Water them when I water my other porch plants but not much else.

  4. Felicia,

It is really beautiful. I love sharing my pretty blooms...makes it seem like spring is already here. I love finding new blogs to read and visit. It's always amazing the talent and creativity of others out in blogland. So glad that the internet was created all those years ago to make online sharing possible.

  6. Gina,

Well believe it or not, when it's in bloom you don't want to water it too much. It doesn't like to be too wet. It also doesn't like cold but can take cool. I have some of mine sitting in my bay window which is a little cooler than the rest of the house. I put it outside as soon as we are over the danger of frost and don't bring it back in til November.

As for the flies, hmmm...maybe the soil is so nutrient rich that's why they have chosen to live in there. I usually don't have problems with bugs even after they have been outside all summer. I usually do remove any dead vegetation though before I bring them in. Outside of killing them manually, I would be afraid to spray anything on it.

  9. It is so beautiful. I haven't grown one for years. I used to do paperwhites, too, but haven't for years. Now that I think of it, my houseplants need watering!
