I Lost but Someone Will Gain Giveaway

Those of you that regularly read my blog know that last month I had to change the way I eat and what I eat. I didn't have much of a choice as my blood sugar was kind of wonky. So I have been on a Atkins like diet for the last 6 weeks. It's been hard at times as it gets sooo boring but I have managed to add something new that I can eat each week, to help keep me going on.

I guess I should have told you all that to make matters worse, I had applied for health insurance and was accepted conditionally... When I received the counter offer the insurance company seemed to think that I was obese because my BMI, body mass index, was above 30. Hmmm...I never thought of myself as obese! I knew I had gained some weight over the years, and needed to lose about 20-25 pounds but I never considered my obese.

Anyway, so in addition to my new diet plan, I started walking again. I walk most days about 2-2 1/2 miles. I started out slow adding 2 blocks to my walk a day. So far I have lost 12 pounds and my BMI is down to 28 and I am now officially just "overweight"! So I decided that I would have a giveaway to celebrate! I painted this cute bunny sign to giveaway.

So while I may have lost, someone else will gain...Anyway, the rules are simple..

1. You must be a follower of my blog (new followers welcome)
2. Leave a comment on this post only letting me know that you would like to enter.
3. You can post this on your blog sidebar to help my celebrate my loss if you so desire.

Winner will be drawn on March 10th.

I hope that you all decide to enter and help me celebrate my weight loss. I still have about 25 more pounds to lose and then I will be officially at "normal weight". Watch in a few days as a share my special treat that I get to eat on my diet!

  9. B,

Thanks! At first it was so easy to stick to my diet as I was feeling so crappy that I was actually feeling better eating the "new" way. I'll hopefully keep going til I reach "normal" weight again.

  13. Carmen,

Yes, there are counter offers in the insurance biz...that way they can surcharge you more money each month. It's all done through medical underwriting and is a big racket I am paying 25% more than I should be paying for my age group, but I guess that's what I get for allowing myself to get so out of shape.

    Thanks for the encouragement.

Yes, I do know that you love anything bunnies..How are your little bunnies doing? Ours is very sweet most days and is so happy when the boys take him out and let him run around the yard.

  14. Wendy,

Thanks for the encouragement. It's hard to get started and stay motivated. My biggest motivation has been simply feeling so much better...no more blood sugar swings and the fact that my pants aren't fitting as snug. Can't wait til I drop a size and need to buy some new clothes!

  15. Lecia,

Thanks for the encouragement! I would walk 4 miles a day which helped keep my weight in check, but I stopped when things got more hectic. I have to keep telling myself that I need to do this for me and my health...and that it's important. Walking is the best exercise as it has many benefits...it clears my mind by helping to put things in perspective...can't help but think things out as you walk. Walking also helps your heart by "eating" lipids which reduces cholesterol.

  16. Amy,

I loved sugar too....but now I can't have any. I've switched to splenda if I have to have it. I now drink lots of water too.

  21. Congratulations on the weight you have lost so far!
My Hubby is borderline diebetic & I've been told by my Doctor to go on a gluten-free diet so I've had to learn how to cook all over again. It's actually been kinda fun trying new recipes & trying to find better things to replace the bad ones. We've both been doing real good at losing our excess weight too. So just keep thinking of it as a new adventure and you will do fine.
Isn't it great to feel better again?
