Strawberry Pickin' Time

It's been strawberry pickin' time here. I've been pickin' and pickin' and pickin'. Each day there is more and more! We have 2 raised beds of plants and the buggers are spilling over. So if anyone has any good ideas and recipes on what to do with them all, please share. We also picked our first pepper...I prefer them to be red, but the poor little plant was struggling with it's fruit I had to pick it. Until next time....

  1. Oh Yum ~ Strawberrires!!!
Strawberry freezer jam is the best!!!
My mother inlaw makes it every year and there is never enough!
You can always mash them up and add sugar then freeze ~ use when needed for icecream ~ waffles ~ pancakes or what ever you want.

  2. Hmmmm. I'd just eat them.LoL.Seriously though they freeze well and freezer jam is easy, good for ice cream topping too.Grandma always made a yellow butter cake with cool whip and strawberries. How about some tea and breakfast loaves. We go locally and pick.Guess it is about time season seems to be slipping by.Warm Blessings!~Amy

  3. Robin,

I have about 8 gallon bags full of washed and hulled berries. I'll be making more jam soon. I'm thinking of making some strawberry muffins....will post them if I do. Hopefully, they will turn out yummy. I'm still not eating sugar so, that leaves out pie and ice-cream....unless of course I want to try making a sugar free pie....hmmm...now there's a thought.

  4. Amy,

I have been eating them...they have been yummy. I eat some kind of berries everyday....they are so addictive. We do have raspberries planted on our property....if the idiot neighbors have left them alone. We also have wild black raspberries....they also get stolen by the neighbors...hopefully we will get some this year....hubby needs to work on a fence to keep the 4 and 2 legged creatures out of the berries....
