Love Hate Relationship with Technology

Yep, some days I feel like smashing the computer to bits...After posting last week, about being recommitted to blogging, what happens but my darn internet starts acting wonky. Now it does go out occasionally and is out for days, but this was intermittent connection issues. And while I know that the computer isn't really at fault, but that Verizon is, the frustration level at times put the image of smashing the computer to bits in my head.

The only thing that saved my sanity was my new techy gadget...well it's not brand spanking new, I've had it for a few months but it's still has that new car smell to me! We bought it late in the fall to use at our big craft show to process credit card transactions. I've gotta say with it's little plug in device and downloaded app, you just swipe the card and all the data is collected. All you do is have the customer sign the ipad and enter their email address. The credit card information is transmitted to my processor and the customer gets their transaction record in an email....easy peasy.

And I gotta say, that not only did my customers love the high techyness (is that even a word?) but they loved not having to keep track of where their receipt was. Oh and that pretty pink cover you see...it's magnetic and when you open it up, the ipad turns on automatically. Gotta love Apple for coming up with a great tech gadget. The best thing I absolutely love to do with my ipad is to go pinning of course!

And since I have been drooling over Photo Shop CS5 for awhile, we bought it so I can use for my photos and hopefully to learn how to do some graphics. From what I've read there is a huge learning curve to Photo Shop but I'm looking forward to the challenge. So far I've mastered cropping pictures, adding text and fade elements to my pictures...yep I know, not even a thimbleful of what the software can do.

Anyway, the hubby has looked for a new internet service provider and all that's left to do now is to make the switch. Hopefully, we can stay connected more than not til we make the switch.

Until next time....

  2. love the new gizmos. I have to confess that I am not very technological---at all.
I have a very expensive internet connection that isn't even high speed and fluctuates with the weather. I empathize with your frustration!
Good to see you giving a good old try though! great post!

  5. Robin,

I love my iPad...it has it limitations though. I can't create new blog posts, nor post new products for sale to my sites....I can relist things though, answer emails, surf the web and of course get on Pinterest...you know ALL the important things! Thank goodness for my data package...it's worth every penny!

And Verizon is the pits...when our Internet is down for days, somehow it's always my computer or my modem or the line to my house....well funny thing is we never "fix" any of it and our service comes back....hmmm...maybe Verizon needs to quit making excuses and actually work on "their" issues....ok, done venting! Oh that felt good! Lol!

  7. Linda,

I'm no tech expert but I am married to a techno geek. He just built me a new "monster computer" for all the new software I bought...my faithful laptop is 9 years old and we upgraded and tweaked it far past it's capability, so I will have to bid it goodbye soon...so sad...I am really attached to it.

Wish I could blame my Internet woes on the weather...really it's just Verizon hasn't updated enough of their DSL equipment to serve all it's users. I so want Fios, which is available in our area but not on our street...much more reliable
service....maybe some day...but until then, I will press on....sure wish I didn't have to limit myself on my iPads data package...it can get expensive some months.

  9. Pat,

I love my iPad...wish it could do a little more with posting new products but until websites stop using flash application for picture uploads, guess it won't be possible. Thanks for stopping by.
